Baltic Zonal Tournament   2016, December 7-13 in Parnu

The first tournament of the Baltic Zonal Tournament FIDE Presidential K. Ilyumzhinov Cup will be played in Pärnu from December 7-13, 2016. In total, three tournaments will be held (also one in Latvia and one in Lithuania) and the overall winner of the the series will qualify for the World Chess Cup 2017 in Batumi. 24 chess players from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania (8 from each country) will participate and the tournaments will be organized in 9-round Swiss system. The total prize fund of the Baltic Zonal Tournaments is €30,000 (€10,000 in each tournament).
